Wildland Firefighters

Resilient Minds is the only training program designed to train wildland firefighters. It takes into consideration the differences and unique needs of wildland fire teams and services by equipping them with resources to grow and maintain psychological wellness. The program believes in inspiring wildland firefighters to recognize and respond to psychological injuries and trauma in the workplace.

Working with the Ministry of Natural Resources – Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services, in 2024, we delivered several courses and Train-the-Trainer to Ministry fire staff.  The goal was to help prepare and certify Peer Instructors within the wildland fire teams for them to continue offering resiliency training to their staff, as they safeguard our forests and communities from the growing threat of wildland fires.

Resilient Minds is delivered by a certified peer instructor and certified CMHA Ontario instructor.

Key Outcomes:

Recognize the effects of psychological stress/trauma

Communicate effectively with peers in distress

Respond promptly, safely, and appropriately to citizens in need

Apply strategies to manage stress and boost resilience
